Different names on the statement. Look inside and the same companies can turn up again and again.
ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, NOT REAL WEIGHTS
A typical emerging markets fund is led by a handful of chip makers, and the top three can make up nearly a quarter of it. A global fund also holds some of those companies. Own both and you hold the same shares twice, without ever choosing to.
Open each fund's factsheet and copy its top 10 holdings onto the worksheet.
Underline any company that appears in more than one fund and note its weight.
Answer three plain questions and record what you decided, so you can look again in a year.
